Dorner - Align Random Product with a Chicane Conveyor

In certain production processes, product is random, misaligned or spread out. This can occur either on purpose or as a result of the process.  For example, in an oven, product should be spread out to allow for even baking. However, further down the line the product needs to be reoriented or placed in specific rows and spacing. The challenge is how to take randomly spread product and create neat rows with spacing

One solution is a chicane conveyor system. The chicane system consists of several conveyors in a line with each consecutive one running slightly faster than the previous. This allows product to be pulled further apart as it flows down the line for single filing.

Another feature of the chicane conveyor is that the horizontal conveyors each have powered conveyors on top, positioned at angles for further spacing of product.  During several sections of these conveyors, the product is separated and singulated.

In this application, products are slowed down by a non-powered guide at the end of the process. This condenses the spacing for the next step in production which involves automation.
