Challenge:

A waste treatment customer needed a way to automate the cleaning of large, bacterial-killing UV bulbs. They were having troubles finding a solution because of the application’s space constraints.

Solution:

Bimba designed its Original Line cylinder to extend telescopically, in two stages. The first stage has a stroke of 7.4”, and the second stage stroke is 7.6”, resulting in an effective stroke of 15 inches. When fully extended, the overall length of the cylinder is 25.36”. A brush mounted to the end of the rod extended and retracted across the bulbs, removing any build-up. This design satisfied the customer’s space constraints, and freed up one employee to work on other projects.

Benefits:

  • Significant space savings
  • Lightweight
  • Stainless steel provides corrosion resistance

Other Applications:

  • Feeding
  • Lifting
  • Diverting

Bimba|TRD also offers a line of NFPA Telescoping Cylinders for heavy duty applications.
