Challenge:
A food service company needed a cylinder to provide rate control on a spring-loaded cover. Their existing application was unstable, and was a safety hazard to the employees. The cover would drop without notice, causing injuries to hands and arms.
Solution:
Bimba developed a unique rate control actuator to deliver smooth, consistent velocity control. This fluid-filled cylinder was designed to provide free flow in one direction and controlled flow in the opposite, or controlled in both directions. The design eliminated the sudden drop of the cover, providing the employees with a safe work environment again.
